Silver Spur Salers began in the 1980s when David researched different breeds and visited the Iowa State Fair to see what breeders had to showcase there. Impressed by what he found, he purchased his first commercial cows bred to a Salers bull after that trip and gradually built his herd into what it is today.
Our focus is on cattle with high maternal qualities, good carcass traits, growth, and docility. Over the years, David and his family have continued to raise both purebred and percentage Salers cattle. ELS Livestock, operated by Scott and Stacy Liebhart and their boys, Landon and Easton, have branched off from Silver Spur Genetics and now raise Salers Optimizer Composites, Red Angus, and SimAngus Cattle.
